We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Zhang Renwen, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications and New Media and a researcher at CSSH, has been awarded a $30,000 research gift from Google. This prestigious recognition is part of Google’s South Asia & Southeast Asia Awards, which celebrates and supports exceptional computer science research in the region. 

This award will fund Dr. Zhang’s innovative project, “Culturally Sensitive AI Chatbots for Enhancing Social Connections among Older Adults.” This research aims to leverage AI to address societal challenges and foster meaningful social interactions for older adults, demonstrating her commitment to impactful, inclusive technology development. Congratulations to Dr. Zhang on this remarkable achievement!
